About Glenn Belverio

Glenn Belverio is a writer based in New York City. His first book, Confessions from the Velvet Ropes, was published by St. Martin’s Griffin in July 2006. During that month Confessions made the Barnes and Noble national bestseller list, clocking in at # 4 during the first week of its release.

Belverio has written about fashion, travel, music, and books for a variety of publications, including the cutting-edge and now-defunct Dutch magazine where he was the NY editor for three years. Belverio also worked as a guest-editor and writer for the China-based magazine WestEast, writing on various themes for the magazine while traveling in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Harbin, and Henan province in China; Hanoi, Vietnam; New Zealand, and Italy. In 2003 he won an award for Editorial Excellence from the Society of Publishers in Asia for his work on the magazine.

Among the subjects that Belverio has interviewed and profiled are: Mira Nair, Dario Argento, Jenna Jameson, Daniel Johnston, Vivienne Westwood, Ron Galella, Veruschka, Bruce Benderson and Bruce LaBruce. In the 90’s Belverio was known for his film and video work, most notably his collaboration with author Camille Paglia, “Glennda and Camille Do Downtown”, which played at the Sundance Film Festival and festivals around the world. A retrospective of Belverio's film and video work was screened at the Institute of Contemporary Art in London in 1999.
